Programs of Study

Suggested Programs of Study

The New England School of Theology (NEST) is an officially recognized U.S. non-profit institution based in Connecticut. NEST offers multi-site college level Christian instruction for all. Our teachers are seminary trained professionals with a high view of Scripture, an orthodox theology, and a passion for teaching the Bible and Theology. We are relatively new as an institution and are pursuing formal accreditation. However, such a status is probably still a number of years away. The main purpose of classes, therefore, is for personal interest, edification, and equipping for ministry.

Individual Courses based on interest

Courses are often taken individually and chosen depending on the continuing-education needs and interests of students.

The following suggested or proposed programs of study can be pursued for interested students. Successfully pursued, these have been approved by the NEST Academic Board as representing a well-rounded course of study.

Program in Christian Apologetics

Our vision is that this would be comparable to a “Certificate”-level education at accredited institutions and will become, eventually, an accredited degree at the New England School of Theology.

  • Focus on knowing and defending the historic Christian faith
  • Courses – (total: 11)
    • Introduction to Christian Apologetics
    • Bible Interpretation
    • The Christian Mind: Critical Thinking and Christian Discipleship
    • Either Turning Points in Salvation History or Introduction to the Old Testament
    • Introduction to the New Testament
    • Introduction to Christian Theology
    • Science and Theology: Domains and Dogma
    • Understanding World Religions and Contemporary Philosophies
    • Public Communication
    • Two Additional Electives

Advanced program in Christian Studies

Our vision is that this would be comparable to an “Associates”-level education at accredited institutions and will become, eventually, an accredited degree at the New England School of Theology.

  • Courses – (total 21)
    • General Education Core (can often be pursued at a local community college)
      • English Composition
      • English Literature and Composition
      • Mathematics
      • Science
      • Fine Arts
      • Social Science
      • Behavioral Science (anthropology, psychology, or sociology)
    • The requirements for the Christian Apologetics program of study
    • Greek I and Greek II
    • An elective in Christian History

Keep in mind that NEST courses are serious and substantial, but at this time they are not officially recognized or known to be transferable to other academic institutions.
